Meet Kayoll Gyan,
Dr. Kayoll Gyan, PhD, RN is a Nurse Scientist in Medical Oncology and the Associate Director of the Phyllis F. Cantor Center for Research in Nursing and Patient Care Services at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She is also a Member of the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gyan is a social commentator on healthcare; she is an avid sports fan, a lover of all things Octavia Butler.

Mission
Her program of research focuses on cervical cancer prevention among Black women, with a specific focus on social cultural determinants of health such as social support, and religion and spirituality. .!Dr. Gyan is currently expanding her program of research to examine the breast cancer experience of young Black women and the role of spirituality and religion as coping mechanism among this population

Method
Dr. Gyan’s research perspective draws from a socio-cultural framework that posits that there are social and cultural determinants of health that contribute to cancer disparities among African Americans and people of color. Gyan’s research uses community-based frameworks for engaging and strengthening community organizations and faith-based organizations to deliver culturally and contextually appropriate interventions and evidence-based programs on HPV-associated cancer prevention within resource-limited communities
